How to have a clearer relationship conversation
A productive conversation is less about finding the perfect words and more about making room for two honest points of view.
Listen without mind-reading
Reflect back what you heard before deciding what the other person meant. A short check such as “Did I understand you correctly?” can prevent assumptions from becoming arguments.
Make one specific request
Describe the behavior or support you are asking for instead of judging someone’s character. Keep the request small enough that both people can respond to it clearly.
